Community

“It takes a village to raise a child.”
Old African Proverb

What You Can Do

You can volunteer in the community. You can volunteer in the schools. You can learn the seven character traits adopted by GCS and practice them in your life, with your family, in the workplace, in your place of worship. You can act as a role model for children you know. You can mentor a child. You can make a difference. You can “be the change”.

“Good character is good for business.”
Character Education  Informational Handbook and Guide, NC Department of Public Instruction

The work of character development is not only the responsibility of the schools, teachers and the parents, but also the responsibility of the larger community. Building good character in children benefits the whole community. When we raise children with good character they become an asset to our businesses and the democratic process in our community.
